The purpose of this project is to improve the health of a community through developing the knowledge, skills, connections and cultural competence of nurse managers.
Objectives of the project are:
- Identify and implement strategies for enhancing the cultural competence of managers, particularly as it relates to managing within multicultural communities
- Develop learning modules for incorporating cultural competence into effective management, and collaborate with educational institutions to incorporate these into nursing curricula
- Establish a resource network for managers with community leaders, health care providers and other key stakeholders
- Evaluate changes in health care use associated with a more culturally sensitive environment.
